Roasted applesauce


  • 10 pounds apples, mixed varieties
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 heaping tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup water

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 
  2. Wash and core apples. Cut into eighths. 
  3. Toss apples with remaining ingredientsin a large roasting pan. 
  4. Bake for 45 minutes, or until very soft. 
  5. Put apples and liquid through food mill (a bowl with a non-slip bottom is convenient). Add more cinnamon and sugar to taste, if desired.
